LOS ANGELES, CA – Writers In Treatment presents its 2nd annual Festival of Laughs  on March 8th at 7:30 PM at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA.

At the Festival of Laughs, Writers in Treatment will honor Lou Gossett Jr. with the “Experience, Strength and Hope Award” for his artistic accomplishments, creative endeavors and carrying the message of recovery to a society struggling with addiction.

In addition to being a superb actor, Lou Gossett Jr. is also an author. He will be available to sign copies of his new book An Actor and a Gentleman. Click here for a great video of Lou.
The  award will be presented byTony Denison, co-star of “The Closer” and star of the groundbreaking series, “Crime Story.”
Special appearance by Joanna Cassidy (Blade Runner, Six Feet Under, Boston Legal, etc.)

The evening is a celebration of the benefits of clean and sober living and the importance of humor in the recovery process. Performing is legendary comedian Barry Diamond. Mr. Diamond has been a professional stand-up comedian for almost 300 years and has appeared in many popular television shows and films. He performs regularly in Las Vegas, traveling carnivals and the Roman Coliseum (once). Diamond’s impressive credits include “Friends,” “Seinfield,” “Politically Incorrect,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and every movie with the word “party” in it.

Also performing are the ever clever Mick Betancourt and Wendy Hammers (nee Kaminoff). Mick Betancourt has appeared on Comedy Central, NBC, and HBO. He also writes for “Law & Order: SVU,” “Black Donnellys,” “Detroit 187” and other outstanding television programs. Wendy Hammers has appeared on “The Sopranos,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” and “Mad About You,” among others.
