ADDICTION and REDEMPTION~LIVE ONSTAGE.
LOS ANGELES – August 12, 2009 – For Immediate Release – Writers In Treatment (W.I.T.), 501 (c)(3) public charity presents A Clean and Sober Evening at the Theater on Friday August 21st, 2009 at 8PM. We celebrate the astounding production of A HATFUL of RAIN, the classic 1956 Tony Award nominated play about heroin addiction at the SKYLIGHT THEATER, 1816 North Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90027.
This production is one of the most heartbreaking, tender and redemptive tales about drug addiction ever staged. Amidst much humor, we experience the cunning nature of this baffling disease while being powerfully engaged and entertained.
“This evening isn’t just for addicts or alcoholics. It’s for anyone who has ever been impacted or just wants to learn more about the disease of addiction in a less traditional and entertaining environment”, said co-founder Leonard Buschel. “We hope to raise awareness of our program so indigent writers can learn that there is help available.”
There will be a catered reception with cast members following the performance.
A Clean and Sober Evening at the Theater is one of the many fundraising events sponsored by Writers In Treatment (www.writersintreatment.org), a public charity founded by Leonard Lee Buschel, Robert Downey Sr., Vernon Scott IV and Iva Kaufman. It is an organization that helps writers addicted to alcohol and/or drugs get treatment for their disease.
Founded in 2008 W.I.T also has a volunteer advisory board of substance abuse counselors, therapists and psychologists who offer free counseling for their clients.
